4.37.1.1. Mathematical model

The VENTURI can be used for a discharge measurement in an open channel by measuring the resistance in the throat of the venturi. The equations which are used to model the venturi are taken from the ISO 1438-1975 norm.

A venturi is described by:

in which the constants Ce and Cv are given by:

NB: This component can not be used for venturi’s without a flat bottom. The use of the venturi component is limited to venturi’s in which the throat is formed by a narrowing of the channel.
